Why Choose Laser Hair Removal?

If you are tired of constantly shaving, waxing or plucking the same unwanted hair, laser hair removal offers a longer-term solution.

Over a series of treatments, laser targets the hair follicle to progressively reduce unwanted growth. As the hair becomes finer and less dense, many clients find they are shaving far less often, dealing with fewer ingrown hairs and experiencing less of the irritation that comes with repeated hair removal.

Laser hair removal can be used on both the face and body, from small areas such as the upper lip, chin, underarms and neck to larger areas including the legs, back and chest.

The goal is simple: less hair to manage and more freedom from the routine of removing it.

The Laser You Choose Matters

Not all laser hair removal is the same.

The technology being used, the wavelength, treatment settings and experience of the provider can all affect how safely and effectively unwanted hair is reduced.

At The Skin Clinic @ Raintree, laser hair removal is performed using Clarity II, an advanced dual-wavelength laser system that allows us to tailor treatment to your skin type, hair characteristics and treatment area.

It also allows us to treat efficiently, making both small areas and larger body treatments considerably faster than with older-generation technology.

Laser Hair Removal for Women

For many women, unwanted hair means years of shaving, waxing or plucking the same areas over and over again.

Laser hair removal progressively reduces that growth, making everyday maintenance easier while helping reduce the irritation and ingrown hairs that can come with repeated hair removal.

Upper Lip, Chin & Hairline
Reduce recurring facial hair and the constant cycle of plucking, waxing or shaving.

Underarms
Reduce routine shaving, stubble and recurring razor irritation.

Bikini & Brazilian
Long-term hair reduction without the continual cycle of shaving or waxing, particularly helpful for those prone to irritation or ingrown hairs.

Legs
Spend less time shaving and enjoy easier, lower-maintenance smooth skin.

Other areas can also be treated depending on your hair and skin. Request an appointment and we'll help determine whether laser is appropriate for the area you'd like to treat.

Laser Hair Removal for Men

For men, laser hair removal doesn't necessarily mean removing every hair. It can mean creating cleaner lines, reducing unwanted growth and making grooming considerably easier.

Common treatment areas include the neck and beard line, shoulders, back and chest.

Men's Neck & Beard Line

If you repeatedly shave your neck only to deal with stubble, razor irritation, bumps or ingrown hairs, laser hair removal can significantly reduce the hair you're constantly trying to remove.

Treatment can be focused below your natural beard line, allowing you to keep the beard you want while reducing the hair you don't.

Laser Hair Removal Pricing

Transparent pricing matters. So does knowing what you're comparing.

Treatment AreaSeries of 6Works Out To
Men's Neck$600$100 / treatment
Underarms$420$70 / treatment
Bikini$829$138 / treatment
Brazilian$1,062$177 / treatment

Comparing prices? Compare the technology too.

A laser hair removal price only becomes meaningful when you know what device is being used and what treatment you are actually receiving.

The lowest price per appointment does not necessarily mean the lowest cost of achieving the reduction you're looking for.

Want Less Hair by Next Summer? Start in Fall.

Laser hair removal is a series, not a single treatment.

Hair grows through different stages, and laser is most effective when the follicle is in the appropriate active-growth phase. Treatments are therefore spaced over time so we can progressively target new cycles of active hair growth.

Starting in fall gives you time to move through multiple treatment cycles before the following summer. It can also make managing sun exposure around your appointments considerably easier.

If you want to stop having to shave by next summer, September and fall are the time to begin.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Laser hair removal works by directing a specific wavelength of light toward pigment within the hair. That energy is converted to heat and travels into the follicle, damaging its ability to produce future hair.

Because laser relies on pigment to identify its target, there must be sufficient contrast and pigment within the hair for treatment to work effectively.

This is also why grey, white, very light blond and some red hair may respond poorly or not at all to laser treatment.

A proper assessment matters. We would rather tell you that laser is unlikely to work well for your hair than sell you a treatment series unlikely to produce a worthwhile result.

How Many Laser Hair Removal Treatments Will I Need?

For effective hair removal, you will need a series of treatments because hair does not grow simultaneously.

At any given time, follicles across the treatment area are in different stages of the hair-growth cycle. Laser is most effective during the active-growth stage, so appointments are spaced to target successive cycles.

The number of treatments required varies according to the area being treated, hair density and characteristics, skin type, hormonal influences and type of device being deployed. Better equipment means better results.

Is Laser Hair Removal Right for Me?

Laser hair removal works best when there is sufficient pigment within the hair for the laser to target.

Clarity II's dual-wavelength technology gives us the ability to safely treat a wide range of skin types, but the appropriate wavelength and treatment settings need to be selected for the individual.

Before beginning treatment, we'll assess your skin, hair and treatment area and make sure laser is an appropriate choice for you.

Laser is generally not effective for white or grey hair and may have limited effectiveness on very light blond and some red hair.

What to Expect From Your Appointment

Before treatment, we'll assess your skin and hair, review relevant contraindications, conduct a test patch and explain what to expect from the treatment series.

The treatment area is typically shaved before laser treatment so energy can be directed toward the follicle beneath the skin rather than being absorbed by hair above the surface.

During treatment, laser energy is delivered systematically across the area while Clarity II's cooling system helps protect the skin and improve comfort.

After treatment, temporary redness or warmth may occur and generally settles.

We'll also explain your treatment interval, sun precautions and home-care instructions before you leave.

Laser Hair Removal vs IPL vs Electrolysis

These treatments are often grouped together, but they are not interchangeable.

Laser Hair Removal

Uses specific laser wavelengths to target pigment in the hair follicle. Modern platforms such as Clarity II allow different wavelengths to be selected according to skin and hair characteristics.

Best suited to: efficient reduction of pigmented hair across small or large treatment areas.

IPL Hair Reduction

IPL uses broad-spectrum intense pulsed light rather than a true laser wavelength. Devices and treatment capabilities vary substantially.

Best suited to: select hair-reduction applications and dependent on the device and technician.

Electrolysis

Electrolysis treats individual follicles using a fine probe and electrical current.

Because it does not rely on hair pigment in the same way laser does, electrolysis may be an option for hair colours that respond poorly to laser.

Best suited to: individual hairs, non-pigmented hair that cannot be effectively targeted with laser.

For larger areas of suitable pigmented hair, laser generally offers a considerably faster treatment approach.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does laser hair removal permanently remove hair?

Laser hair removal is best described as long-term or permanent hair reduction rather than a guarantee that every treated hair will disappear forever.

A successful series can substantially reduce the amount and density of hair in an area. Some clients require occasional maintenance over time.

Does the type of laser used for laser hair removal matter?

Absolutely yes.

Different laser platforms offer different wavelengths, treatment capabilities, cooling systems, spot sizes and operating parameters. The device and the provider's ability to select appropriate settings both influence how treatment can be delivered.

Why is laser hair removal cheaper at some clinics?

Pricing can reflect many things, including the technology being used, treatment time, provider experience, operating model and how a clinic structures packages.

Rather than comparing price alone, decide based on provider experience, the type of laser that is best for your skin and the device being used. Then compare the price.

Does laser hair removal help with ingrown hairs and razor bumps?

Yes. Reducing the amount of hair that repeatedly grows through the skin can help clients who experience recurring shaving-related irritation and ingrown hairs.

The underlying cause of bumps or irritation should still be assessed, particularly when there is significant inflammation or another skin condition may be involved but for most laser clients, ingrowns and related irritation are a thing of the past.

Is laser hair removal effective for men's neck hair?

Coarse, pigmented neck hair can respond very well to laser hair removal.

Treatment can be focused below the beard line to reduce the hair that would otherwise require frequent shaving. Clients who have beards or those that are clean shaven appreciate the low effort maintenance and the smooth, clean appearance of the neck.

Can darker skin be treated with laser hair removal?

Yes, with appropriate technology and treatment parameters.

Clarity II includes a 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength, which gives our providers an important option when treating darker skin types.

An individual assessment is still necessary because safe treatment depends on more than skin tone alone.

When should I start laser hair removal if I want less hair by summer?

Ideally, start several months in advance. Because treatments follow the hair-growth cycle, the earlier you begin treatments before an upcoming holiday or next Summer, the more hair reduction we can achieve.

Does laser hair removal work on blond, grey or red hair?

It depends on how much pigment the hair contains.

Grey and white hair generally cannot be effectively targeted by laser. Very light blond and some red hair may also respond poorly because there is insufficient melanin for the laser to target.

Why Choose The Skin Clinic @ Raintree Spa

Laser hair removal should not be treated as a commodity.

Technology matters. Treatment settings matter. Experience matters.

We invest in advanced laser technology because we expect the treatment to perform. Our providers select treatment parameters according to the person in front of them rather than treating every skin type, hair type and body area the same way.

We are equally comfortable telling you when laser isn't the right treatment. Good treatment planning includes knowing what not to treat.
